FROYO for SGS: Complete Change log
User Interface
Since Samsung Galaxy S got froyo, User Interface (UI) got much more easy to use, and familiar with user’s needs. These are the full changes on UI.
This is one of the biggest features on Android phones. And now it has been improved for making even more with it. The search bar widget is now able to make calls, play music, browse on the Inet, write new SMS and email, search for an address, get directions to a place and create a new note.
At the same time, now you can pick whether to search on the Internet or in the phone and even on the installed applications in an easier way than before.
This feature is only available in English, but soon 4 new languages will be released.
Applications
Camera:
Widgets
CarHome (New): this allows you to drive safely by opening an easy to use interface with the main shortcuts and applications you need when driving, specially designed for voice commands.
Daily Breffing got some bugs corrected and now is faster and more intelligent.
Voice Recorder now continues recording even with the screen off.
Google Talk was redesigned. Now is more beautiful and easier to use.
On Music Player when you rotate the screen, the view doesn’t change (from list do disc view). Now this change has to be done by pressing the menu key.
MediaHub is finally working, with this app you can buy or rent movies and TV Shows at very low rates and in HQ/HD. You should really give it a try. Content is excellent with an extensive catalogue including recent movies.
Gmail now is easier to use. Now includes buttons for switching between accounts and labels. Also when responding a message, now we can switch between Reply, forward or reply to all. Desktop labels had some bugs on Éclair. Now they are working fine.
Calendar has new advanced options when creating a new event. Multiple alarms are now able to be assigned.
Latitude and AllShare got minor changes.
Galaxy Support (New) is just a simple shortcut to Samsung Galaxy Support website.
Places (New): using GPS, searches for places by category in order to get directions to them.
Browser is now able to play Flash. It includes flash 10.0. Rumors about flash 10.1 update on March 18th.
DeskHome (New) is a new app similar to CarHome but specially designed for placing the phone on a dock on the desktop, with the most important shortcuts.
Settings
Icons are now full color.

- Pinch in at Home Screen and applications

Button for I/O GPS. Vibrate Button
disappeared by being replaced for Mute button that now has vibe opcion.
- When pressing On/Off button, now it includes a
“Data Network Mode” which allow you to switch on/off 3G Data Network.
- Contacts now have a search box.
- Samsung Widgets is now within all widgets.
- When pressing and holding Home button, we can see an all new Task Manager, which allows you to close all applications, services, manage and monitor RAM Memory.
- Pop-up information messages are sober.
- When pressing menu soft key, it only vibrates when it has a menu to display. Otherwise it doesn’t.
- When on a call, the notifications bar changes to green color.
- GPS icon on
notifications bar changed its shape.

- Now you can Share your data network. It’s called Tethering and allows you
to connect for example Laptop to your phone by USB and share Internet access.
If you want to do it wirelessly, there is an option called Mobile AP. By this
way the data is shared wirelessly.
- In networks, now the active connection is Bold and blue color.
- In call settings, there is an option for making the phone vibrate when
the called person answers.
- Sound and display got an independent Menu.
- In display now you are able to calibrate accelerometer’s screen position.
- In location and security, there is a new positioning sensor for improving
GPS and making battery last more.
- In security, now it’s possible to set PIN code with numbers or a password
with numbers and letters.
- In security, there is a new option for Devices Administration.
- In settings – Applications – Manage applications now you can filter the
type of application and whether it’s on the SD or the internal memory. Now you
can also Install applications on the SD from the android market.
- Some visual changes on Settings – running services. Color on bottom bar.
- On Settings – applications – development
“stay awake” is not anymore available.
- On privacy now you can make a backup and restore.
- Mount internal SD option disappeared from settings.
- On settings – searchable items, now an icon of the type of search is
displayed.
- Text to speech menu disappeared. It have been replaced by “Voice input
and output” which has advanced setting for voice recognition.
- On accessibility there is an option for installing Screen reader
/Talkback. Also an opcion for hanging up calls with the power button.
- Offcourse on info it display FROYO instead of ÉCLAIR.
